The long awaited BOOST UP has been launched, it is a 3-part series of startup events, supported by SAIS 2, the SAIS 2 National Focal Points and the SAIS 2 Connected Hubs network in the five SADC countries of Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. The BOOST UP series is geared to take the SADC region by storm with a total of over 20 events targeting over 700 aspiring entrepreneurs and startups taking place in 5 countries as from June to August 2019. Connected hubs Community Manager, Auri Evokari says "Often times training is only provided for a selected few startups. Through BOOST UP more people can benefit from coaching events before the applications even start for the pitching competitions. We are looking forward to including more women in these technology-related startup events."
The first event will be BOOST UP Set Up where entrepreneurs gain practical tools to help package their business idea and develop a pitch to attract their target market. Then follows the next part which will be BOOST UP: Stand Up, where committed startups who are eager to make an impact will compete in pitching competition organised in each of the participating countries. These pitching competitions are aimed at attracting impactful startups with scalable business ideas and the eagerness to grow to become more investable to apply and take part. Once the winning startups have been identified, they will go on to the BOOST UP: Scale Up, which is an online training programme for designed specifically to make early-stage startups to more investable. The incubator includes an on-site Bootcamp programme in Helsinki, Finland, wrapping up with one of the largest tech conferences in Europe, Slush 2019. Read more about BOOST UP on the website.
